Designer: Piotr Matuszek & Gosia Czarny
Talented designers Piotr Matuszek and Gosia Czarny gave this small-scale apartment a bright and spacious makeover. The clients were a young couple who inherited the property from their grandmother – and at only 20 sq. meters, it required a near-total structural transformation to make the space feel large enough for two.

Light colors and simple lines always make a room look a bit larger than it really is. The designers used scaled-down patterns in monochromatic colors to weave a playful character without creating any unnecessary visual clutter.

Small Studio Apartments With Beautiful Design
Studio apartments are notoriously difficult to decorate - especially within smaller layouts.
The simplest approach is to create a coordinated style that extends
throughout the entire home, but that option can restrict the creativity
and expressive potential of the occupants. The other option is to create
a different theme within each functional area, but this requires
careful planning and a unifying design layer to make sure the home
doesn't clash or feel too eclectic. The five studio apartments
profiled in this post demonstrate a variety of techniques and styles,
proving that creative constraints can lead to inspiring solutions.

Art Lover’s Red Blue and Green Home Decor Scheme
A striking vision of rich colour, this 80 square metre modern apartment interior was designed by ATO Studio.
Located in Moscow, Russian Federation Area, the home has a seriously
arty air throughout. The lounge holds two modern paintings in colours
that seem to have been the muse for this decor scheme - both in palette
and cubist nature. Unusual contemporary furniture design, bespoke
shelving units, wall and ceiling paint colours and tiling are a clashing
concoction of solid bold green, deep blue and muted reds that
transition from rich russet tones all the way through to the brink of
pink. White spaces and wood tone balance the colourful scene.
A
gallery wall remains white in the living room, where two pieces of
inspirational art is displayed within wainscot style framing. Another
two walls are painted solid sage green,
whilst a third and the floor are muted russet-brown. The darker colours
in the room eat up the natural light coming from a large window but a
white ceiling helps to lift the scheme.
The
colours in the paintings are not the only part of the artwork to be
replicated within the decor. The angular shapes can be seen echoed in
the shape of two contemporary accent chairs that have been upholstered
in light grey as a break from the rooms deep colour palette. Circular
shapes have also been brought out of the paintings, translated into a
round coffee table and a rug motif.

Stylish Streamlined One Room Living
A home doesn’t need to be of sprawling square footage
to hold a gorgeous and comfortably functional interior, the best ideas
can come in very small packages. Take this couple of one room living
spaces as great examples. These two compact studio apartments each
incorporate bold features with a stand out sense of style. The
furnishings have been cleverly streamlined and cleanly zoned to tick all
of the boxes for a modern life of working from home, rest and
relaxation, and even socialising. Inventive area planning, bespoke
furniture design and considered colour schemes add up to make two cool
compact living environments where perceived limitations of space
dissolve away.
Our
first one room living space has a smooth grey colour palette that
evokes a relaxing atmosphere. Seating solutions span one entire wall of
the living area. Of two matching bespoke bench seats, the first acts as
banquette seating at a dining
table, and the second as a slimline sofa situated in optical alignment
with the television screen. A bed is located on a raised platform – an
anchored installation that runs into the seating base structure.
A
single trundle bed can be drawn out from beneath the double platform
bed to provide sleeping quarters for a child; this kind of trundle
design would also come in handy as a guest sleeper. A section from the
steps leading to the double bed slide away to form the headboard of the
single sleeper. The stepped headboard provides a small shelf that can be
used as a bedside unit.

The Top Five Garden Trends of 2018
Spring is almost here, and it’s time to start thinking about how you can spend more time outdoors. If you have a patio or a garden, giving it a little refresh is time and money well spent. Make your outdoor living space more functional (and beautiful!) by incorporating the top garden trends of 2018.
1. Small gardens are at the top of 2018 garden trends
2018 garden trends
As an intimate outdoor space, this small garden exemplifies the biggest 2018 garden trend. Image: Jarrett Yoshida Design
Whether you’re working with a small patio area, a side yard, or a large open space, it’s all about creating cozy, intimate spaces in 2018. Got 150 square feet to work with? Then make it the loveliest small garden ever! You can still have a seating area, a water or fire feature, and plenty of greenery in the form of potted plants.
If you have a large, open area, this is the year to consider breaking it up into smaller spaces. Some ways you can do this is by:
Creating a sitting or dining area with fieldstone
Adding an arbor and vines, creating the illusion that you’re entering another world
Creating an outdoor dining spot under a trellis
Setting up a spot with chairs and a firepit
The key is to enclose the space a bit with potted plants, hedges, trees or vines, creating intimate settings that flow from one to the other. Check out these ideas, for inspiration:

2. Vertical gardens are hot right now
We’ve been telling you this for awhile now: the living wall, or vertical garden, is a beautiful way to add some life to a wall. Here are a couple of ideas on how you can add one to your garden:
2018 garden trends
Limited on square footage? Then go up! Two large frames hold plants that grow vertically on the wall. Image: Eco Walls

3. Eco landscaping is one of the biggest garden trends of 2018
Color and texture are achieved using a variety of grasses and flowering herbs. Image: Coffman Studios
Low-water landscaping saves you time and money. They require less maintenance and less watering. They’re also quite stunning. It’s all about geometry and architecture; for a striking effect, consider adding gravel, stone or rock among the eco-friendly plants like grasses and succulents.
4. Fire pits were last year, water features are this year
This water feature is designed to collect water and recirculate it. The pots have small ledges where birds, or other wildlife, can perch to drink. Image: Teserra Outdoors
We’re still a huge fan of fire pits: check out this roundup of fire pits and you’ll understand why. But this year, the top landscapers and designers are opting for water features instead.
The water feature revival is likely due to the fact that nature-friendly, eco gardens are popular. And providing water for birds and wildlife, while enjoying the soothing look and sounds of flowing water, make the garden water feature both beautiful and practical.
5. Garden to table

Our favorite of the 2018 garden trends has got to be the edible garden. Regardless of what size your space is, you can probably manage room for a potted fruit tree, or a raised bed with veggies or lettuce, or even a small herb garden. Want to take it to the next level? Add some chickens for fresh eggs! Just be sure to check you local zoning laws first. Here are some ideas:

2018 is all about enjoying your outdoor space. Decide what works best for your lifestyle and needs and keep it simple and natural. Here’s to outdoor living!

Mid-century modern design was all about reinvention. Designers like

Interior Design Using Marble And Wood Combinations
There is something very luxurious about the grand combination of
misty veined marble and rich wood grain. The teaming of natural
materials brings life to a modern apartment interior and can be
incorporated in a myriad of ways. Floors, bathroom tiles and kitchen
backsplashes have long been clad in marvellous marble finishes, but how
can we apply other areas of organic patterning to add interest and
movement to hard contemporary surroundings? Wood tone is ideal for
furniture, floors and panelling but how can we freshen our use of the
material? These two apartments show how to create soft neutral backdrops
of marble and wood that won’t leave a sophisticated decor scheme
falling flat.
Beyond shining globe pendant lights,
a slatted wood wall adds dimension over an entertainment wall in our
first featured home. A flat screen television is mounted partially over
the wooden slats, with its lower half hanging over a white, grey and golden tone marble panel. A strip of white LED lighting runs through the cross section.
Two round glossy white coffee tables with black frames complement the white marble backsplash and black kitchen wall cabinets behind the lounge.

4 Small Apartment Layout Ideas With Muted Pastel Decor
These four gorgeous little apartment interiors are the work of visualiser Diễm Kiều.
Each of these contemporary living spaces have been arranged in clever
layouts that expertly deal with the challenges of living a full modern
life within the confines of a compact space. Despite limited
proportions, all four homes have enviable kitchens, sociable dining
areas and cosy looking lounges. The colour palettes used throughout are
calming and homey, with muted shades of blush pink, blue-grey and soft
mint green. The pastel hues have been teamed with monochrome tiling in
the kitchen areas, where splashbacks and floor tiles bring in expanses
of on trend intricate pattern and cool geometric design.
Despite the limited proportions of this cosy lounge area, a large wall clock
decorates a grey feature wall, which tricks the mind into believing the
space is more substantial. The gold living room pendant light stands
out beautifully against the grey backdrop and is complemented by the
golden wood tones of a central coffee table, the couch base and the
neighbouring dining table and chairs.
In tune with the golden sheen of the living room light, a duo of globe pendant lights
have an amber tinted sheen over the dining table. To zone the dining
area, wood panelling has been applied to the wall and painted a gentle
blush pink. The same shade has been applied to a boxed wall shelf that
holds just a couple of decorative jugs and plates.

How To Use And Combine Bright Decor
Yellow is a colour that creates wow in an interior. It also adds
sunny visual warmth and evokes feelings of spring-summertime happiness.
This high energy effect makes it a great hue to use in any area of the
home, but particularly for kids rooms. Despite the colours feel-good
factor, its bright quality can at first seem a bit daunting when using
in decor. Yellow is just yearning to be used though, so we have put
together this collection of yellow kids’ rooms that show how to
implement it to best effect, and how to combine yellow decor and home
accessories with other colours to create entirely different looks and
atmosphere.
The yellow elements in this kids’ bedroom have been put within a pale grey, white
and light woodtone scheme. Here yellow is used as an accent rather than
a dominating hue, though its brightness still does overrule the other
relaxed tones. The headboard feature wall is covered in Swiss crosses,
which create a quirky pattern on which to situate a pitched wood and
yellow headboard and a dreamy thought bubble shaped wooden wall clock.
A
yellow stripe runs across closets, a childs’ desk and along the lower
quarter of one grey wall. The vividity is neutralised by larger volumes
of smooth grey and pale wood tone.

Moen 7400 Faucet Assembly Repair
The Moen 7400 series of faucets includes the popular Chateau kitchen faucet, which is a single lever faucet. This faucet, like many other Moen models, may begin to leak or have water flow issues after assembly. If this is the case, a disassembly of the faucet and re-tightening of the parts is all you need to do to correct the problem. It takes just a few minutes and will not require extensive plumbing experience.
...
Step 1
Turn off the water supply to the faucet by shutting the valves on the to water pipes directly under the faucet in your sink cabinet.
Step 2
Take off the single lever handle on the Moen faucet. First take out the screw in front of the handle along the base with an Allen wrench. If there is a plug in the mounting hole, take this out before unscrewing the handle.
Step 3
Remove the faucet dome, the large, round piece under the handle by turning it counterclockwise and lifting it up. Unscrew the cartridge retainer nut under the dome with a pair of locking pliers or a hexagonal wrench, properly sized to fit the nut.
Step 4
Lift the cartridge out of the faucet base with your hands, or a pair of pliers if necessary, and insert a new one in place of it. Make sure the cartridge rests flush against the base of the faucet and install the cartridge retainer nut, turning clockwise to tighten it.
Step 5
Replace the dome and turn clockwise to install it on the faucet base. Slide the handle onto the spout and tighten the set screw to hold it in place.
